Washboard surface was fine for cleaning clothes but as a road contour is undesirable. Thanks and congratulations to Mr. Brian Lemcke, interim public facilities director. He successfully negotiated with the state in having the chip-seal road top along Portage Cove (state-maintained) extended to the steep rise at the first portion of Beach Road South (borough-maintained). This should protect the road from the washboard condition that recurred within days of grading. His response to concern from residents is gratifying.
