Spending $45,000 for lobbyist services is not the wisest use of our tax dollars, especially in times of tightened budgets. Our capable borough manager and staff can surely track any legislation or state departmental action relevant to Haines without resorting to a paid outside consultant.

Should issues arise necessitating outright advocacy, our own elected representatives certainly have greater credence over any “hired gun” lobbyist.
