I kind of miss Joe Parnell’s “Wonderings.” Next to the police report, his article was the second thing we would read. I have a few wonderings of my own. The newspaper reported three new studies – bundled together – resulted in no questions asked about spending $22,000 to study our police department.
Here is a suggestion. Teach the dispatcher when to say, “This is not a police matter” to about 70 percent of the calls, divide the $22,000 between the three officers for pay increases and let them spend their time on what is really important. After all, we are one of the lowest crime towns already. It is not rocket science.
I went to the LEAP event at the library. It was news to me that the plan is to blow out both ends of the library for more storage and work space. The borough office seems to have the same need. I am wondering why not join forces and just connect both buildings under one roof. A central meeting room could service borough assembly meetings as well as other gatherings. The small meeting room at the library could be work space for staff. Put handicap parking and short-term parking in front, with regular parking in back. Just wondering, why not?
