The Haines Borough has developed a new system to keep the public informed on how projects of interest are moving through the political process.

The borough posted “The Hopper” on its website in January. The spreadsheet includes a working list of projects and rough timelines of when their associated ordinances or discussions are set to come before the assembly.

The list includes where the project or idea originated, who has reviewed or recommended it, its current status, the next step in the process, the target date for assembly introduction, the date of assembly approval, and post-approval actions.

It currently includes four dozen projects, such as the Picture Point Wayside project, the Mount Riley sledding hill, installation of wood pellet boilers in borough facilities and the helicopter noise study.

The most recent edition of the Hopper was updated Jan. 30.
