Yeti’s Yummies officially opened last week, just in time to order a batch of fresh-baked banana muffins or loaf of “Christmas in Vermont” bread for your holiday gathering.

Yvette Graham launched the cottage food business Dec. 8. A lifelong baker, Graham makes everything from orange-glazed pumpkin gingerbread to pumpernickel country loaves to blueberry pies.

“When I was a kid, I couldn’t go out and play because I had to stay inside and make bread with my grandma and my mom,” Graham said.

Graham, who named the business after her nickname “Yeti,” lives near 31 Mile Haines Highway. She’s baked at the 33 Mile Roadhouse, Mosquito Lake’s now-defunct Mystic Moose, and Bear-Rittos.

Graham also offers yeast breads, sourdough, sweet breads, stollen, fruit and nut pies, muffins, rolls, sticky buns, hamburger and hot dog buns, scones, English muffins, bagels and cookies.

“It’s an endless thing. It’s like an art to me,” she said.

Though Graham lives up the highway, she can deliver items to customers in town.

Cottage food businesses like Graham’s are allowed to operate without a food safety/inspection license under strict limitations, including that the business owner can only sell directly to consumers and can’t sell foods that require refrigeration for safety.
