Last week the Children’s Reading Foundation of Haines (CRFH) sponsored two classes with Christine Roberts, founder of Nurturing Pathways. Christine demonstrated and backed with research how, “Movement is the gateway to learning during the first four years of life because sensory-motor and social development precedes language and logic skills.” Parents with their children, educators and caregivers learned first-hand how and why movement will tune the brain so that it is ready, willing and able to learn.

These classes were free of charge to the public, thanks to funding from Delta Western, Haines Friends of the Library, Constantine Metal Resources, Lynn Canal Counseling and Jacklynn Ruggirello for use of her Zumba studio. This kind of support is sound investment in building a healthy community for Haines. Thank you.
