The two departing members of the Borough Assembly included in last week’s issue of the Chilkat Valley News provide a striking contrast toward community development. One brought forward two legislative proposals to deal with some thorny issues facing our town – transparency regarding references for former employees and trash collection. Bravo and thank you! The other wrote a divisive, accusatory and inaccurate letter to the editor. He attacked a significant and growing segment of our community that requires thoughtful analysis of potential negative effects of various projects before “green-lighting” them. This group is especially concerned with water quality and salmon sustainability, issues that should concern us all. We need assembly members who listen, bring people together, and look to future generations.
