The Haines Borough school board will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the Haines School library.
The meeting will be the first regular meeting with new district superintendent Ginger Jewell, who this week said her report to the board would include “where we are and what we did over the summer.”
The meeting will include a legislative update, a report on a recent award to teacher Patty Brown and discussion of a mural project on the Haines School’s retaining wall on Main Street.
Haines High School alumna Cara Murray submitted a proposal for the project, but on reconsideration, the board discussed extending the project to all three panels of the wall, which would more than triple the project’s original scope.
The district has a $5,000 donation for the project. Murray recently said she would need $12,000 for painting all three panels.
