The Haines Borough Public Library is seeking catapult builders to participate in the statewide “Things that Fling!” competition.

People interested in participating can attend a meeting at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the library to learn about the competition’s rules, specifications and safety.

The meeting will take place over the Online With Libraries system, and communities around the state will participate. The Craig and Anchorage libraries are hosting the competition, said education and cultural coordinator Jessie Morgan.

“We need builders and some creative minds,” Morgan said. “Hopefully, teenagers or people in the summer reading program, or just anyone who’s interested.”

Library systems engineer Erik Stevens will give a presentation at the library Tuesday at 3 p.m. on projectiles, aerodynamics and work-energy.

Builders will meet every Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the library.

For more information, call Morgan at 766-2545.
