Barbara Lavallee, illustrator of the celebrated children’s book “Mama, Do You Love Me?,” will attend a meet-and-greet lunch at the Senior Center from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, June 13, followed by a 3 p.m. book signing at the public library.
In addition to illustrating, Lavallee is a painter, quilter and printer.
Lavallee is coming to promote her new book, “The Best of Barbara Lavallee,” a “colorful and vibrant collection of watercolors” inspired by Alaskan towns and landscapes.
Inside Passage Quilting owner Linda Axsom is helping coordinate Lavallee’s visit. “She is just such a famous person in the quilting and art and book world, and it’s such a privilege for us to have her here,” Axsom said.
Axsom said Lavalee is best known for her “whimsical paintings of Alaskans in their kuspuks.”
A $5 donation is asked.
