Meet the people you think you know at the Haines Borough Public Library’s third annual Human Library event from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Instead of books, participants can “check out” people and learn more about their Haines neighbors, said education and cultural coordinator Jessie Morgan.
Six “books” will be available, though Morgan didn’t reveal names in order to preserve a sense of intrigue. “It’s a way to communicate and learn more about your fellow community members,” Morgan said.
Titles of the human books, which can be “checked out” for 20 minutes, include “Studying for the Exam,” “Customary and Traditional Tlingit Food,” “Just the Facts,” “Shh! Please Speak Up, I Can’t Hear You!” “Service to Our Country” and “Growing Up in a Russian Orphanage.”
Attendees can read a short summary of the books in a card catalog before selecting the ones they wish to check out.
