Issues of interest to aging residents will be discussed during an “Aging in Place” workshop to be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 2 at the Senior Center.

Anyone concerned with the aging process in Haines is invited to participate, said organizer Diane Sly. A $5 charge covers hall rental and lunch.

The event starts at 9 a.m. with a report on aging in Alaska by a Southeast Regional Health Consortium representative. Roundtable topics from 10 a.m. to noon include housing, hospice, Southeast Alaska Independent Living, Cornerstone, good health habits and functional foods.

Following a lunch and live music, break-out sessions will he held 1-2 p.m. Topics will include “Getting Around Haines,” “Living Wills, End-of-Life Directives and the Comfort One Program,” “Insurance and Tax Concerns,” and a tour of elder-adapted living spaces.
