Former Glacier Bear Kyle Fossman closed his University of Alaska Anchorage basketball career with a 27-point performance March 5 at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference tournament.

The Seawolves fell to Western Oregon, 94-88, in the quarterfinals and concluded their season with a 17-13 record. The game in Lacey, Wash., had a 1:15 p.m. start, the same time his parents, Steve and Ann Fossman, were coaching the Haines High School boys in the opener of the Region V basketball tournament in Juneau.

Fossman drained six 3-pointers in his final UAA game, and shot 10-18 overall. His 257 3-pointers rank first all-time at the school. He is the Seawolves’ ninth all-time leading scorer, with 1,237 points.

Fossman averaged an even 17 points per game for the season, and started all 30 games for the Seawolves, leading the team in minutes played. He also was second on the team in rebounds.
