Haines High School graduate Kyle Fossman now ranks among the top 25 scorers in the history of the University of Alaska Anchorage men’s basketball team.

Fossman reached that ranking as of Dec. 7, when UAA topped the University of Alaska Fairbanks, 96-76, at home. Fossman, a senior, poured in 18 points, putting him at 892 for his career. That win also boosted Fossman to 16th on the individual victories list for UAA, with 61.

The six-foot Fossman was a first-team All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference honoree last season. He has started all 12 games for the Seawolves this season and is averaging 17.2 points per game as the team’s third-leading scorer.

Fossman is shooting 45 percent from three-point range, and already has drained 47 treys. He’s also second on the team in assists (40), and has committed only 13 turnovers.

He tallied 24 points in 30 minutes during UAA’s most recent game Tuesday, a 111-58 drubbing of Northland International. Fossman shot 7-15 from behind the arc.
