The education program at the Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center offers its thanks to the Margaret Frans Brady Fund of the Juneau Community Foundation for its financial support of the Chilkat Valley Study and Discussion Group. This new program will: 1) interpret the history and the blending of diverse cultures in the area by coordinating focused research on three existing publications; 2) utilize museum collections and archives germane to the subject, and 3) present this research in a series of outreach programs.
The study group will help individuals learn about the area where they live and encourage community pride. Funds will be used to purchase three existing publications for 12 participants who otherwise may not have been able to afford them. Remaining funds will cover the cost of classroom instruction/supplies and publicity. During the Sheldon Museum’s open house from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, information and orientation will be available. Anybody and everybody is encouraged to join.
