Garrett Kroschel and Keanu Lynch took top awards in Mike’s Bikes and Boards second annual Fair Time Skate Competition Friday.
Around 60 people showed up to the public skate park on Haines Highway and Sawmill Creek Road to cheer on the nine local skaters who entered the competition.
“I wish we would have had some skaters from out of town come to compete,” said coordinator Stuart Wood. “But I’m still happy with the turnout, and everyone had fun and got to go away with prizes.”
Skaters competed in intermediate and advanced brackets.
Judges Wood, Teddy Hart and Gus Rasmussen rated each trick on a scale of one to five.
Zach Lambert placed second in the intermediate bracket, which was won by Lynch. Cody Hotch, Randy Harvey, Keegan Sundberg and Phillip Griffighs followed winner Kroschel in the advanced bracket, respectively.
Prizes included hats, T-shirts, skateboard decks and long boards.
“It was a good second year,” said Wood. “But every year we’re going to try to get bigger and bigger.”
