Link Union, an eight-member, acoustic family band from Lebanon, Mo., will present its version of Americana music at a free concert 7 p.m. Sunday, July 21 at Haines Presbyterian Church.

The band is coming via connections with the Alaska String Band, a Juneau family band that has played in Haines and recently won Texas’ Valley Star Award for Bluegrass Group of the Year.

Paul Zahasky of Alaska String Band told the Juneau Empire that Link Union is one of many family bands he has met traveling. “I would say they are the finest musically that we have met anywhere,” Zahasky said. “They are Nashville quality, professional musicians. We’re very excited to bring them.”

Link Union is made up of family members Rachel, Kyle, Ashley, Ben, Aaron, John, Lance and Becky Link.

Zahasky said Link Union has been inspiring to his family for its professionalism and quality of playing, as well as for the way they’ve continued to thrive as a band as the children have reached adulthood.
