Building and understanding relationships between Native and non-Natives will be the focus of a workshop in Klukwan on Friday, Aug. 2.

Dan Henry will lead the morning session, providing a historical perspective on relations. Behavioral health specialist Elsie Spud will contribute her view as a lifelong Klukwan resident. The morning session is open to the public and will be followed by a community potluck lunch.

Licensed counselor Robin Grace will lead an afternoon session aimed at health care providers that includes a discussion of cross-cultural dynamics affecting counseling and relationships.

The event is sponsored by Alaska Arts Confluence, Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, Lynn Canal Counseling and 7 Echoes Homestead. Register for the day-long course before July 10 to receive a 25 percent discount at http://www.7echoes.org.
