The Alaska Chilkoot Bear Foundation has joined area nonprofits that can receive funds through the “Pick.Click.Give.” checkoff on Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend applications.
Residents last year gave $15,275 to nonprofits in the area through the program. Organizations receiving donations included: Chilkat Valley Community Foundation, $5,375, 54 donors; Friends of the Haines Borough Public Library, $1,950, 38 donors; Haines Animal Rescue Kennel, $3,025, 69 donors; Haines Assisted Living, $700, 14 donors; Hospice of Haines, $1,900, 36 donors; KHNS, $1,450, 25 donors; and Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center, $875, 19 donors.
Applications for the 2013 payout are due March 31.
