The Upper Lynn Canal Fish and Game Advisory Committee will hold elections for four open seats Dec. 14 at the assembly chambers.
Three of the seats will be filled by Haines residents, and one by a Skagway resident. Any attendee can nominate someone to fill the open seats. Each attendee has one vote, and the nominees with the highest number of votes will be awarded the seats.
The advisory committee meets to discuss fishing and wildlife issues in order to provide recommendations to the Alaska Board of Fisheries and the Alaska Board of Game.
The open seats are currently filled by Al Gilliam, John Katzeek, John Tronrud, and Sean McLaughlin.
During the meeting, the committee will also discuss 15 statewide general fin fish proposals.
Fifteen proposals related to fin fish will be discussed. McDunna said the public is encouraged to attend and offer input on the provisions.
The committee can choose to support, not support, or take no action on the provisions, and the recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Fisheries. Though the public can weigh in, only committee members can vote.
The meeting will be held Dec. 14 in the Haines Borough Assembly chambers at 5 p.m.
