A huge thank-you to Jim Moran and Bill McRoberts at the American Legion for your hours of dedicated efforts to help John Binger and I fly affordably to be by my mother’s side in tragic times. Thank you to Peter and Sherrie Goll for helping us get on the road quickly; Christy Fowler and Marty Fowler for being incredibly kind and selfless. Marty, the milkshake was perfect. Elise Lammers, Lenise Henderson Fontenot, Knikki Cinocco, Sarah Jaymot, Jacklynn Ruggirello and Judy Heinmiller: Your help with everything from comfort food to entertaining Jason Chambers (my best friend visiting from out of town who we left behind as we raced out of town) has not gone unnoticed.

I was convinced Haines was a town unparalleled in kindness and positive energy when I arrived three years ago. That has been proved true again. My father would have truly loved to experience this beautiful mountain town we call home.

Last, thank you to the love of my life, my soul-mate, my rock, John Binger. You have been my legs, my strength, and my support. I love you.

Ultimately, thank you Haines for being human.
