Residents are salvaging windows, beds and other fixtures from the Thunderbird Motel at Second Avenue and Dalton Street. Demolition of the structure, which dates to the 1950s, is scheduled for the week of Sept. 17. The motel was started by former school superintendent Bill Jahn, who needed housing for teachers.
