Like this exterior wall of the Sheldon Museum, sections of Hardie plank cement siding are fading at public buildings and homes all over town. The Haines Borough is seeing if new paint will help. The siding became popular after construction of the Haines Public Library. Billed as virtually indestructible, the siding apparently doesn’t like continued exposure to dampness and snow.
