A juvenile brown bear meanders across the taxiway at the Haines Airport around 4 p.m. July 5. As a plane was scheduled to land within minutes, an airline employee drove a car out to chase it off the taxiway, and then off the runway. As many as 10 juvenile brown bears are around town.
