The first Season Kick-Off Celebration was a success. Thank you to Jan Hill, Nancy Keen, Lorraine Kasko, Deanna Strong and Tim Ackerman for greeting and welcoming our guests and the first ship in regalia; Tom Heywood, Len Feldman, Katya Kirsch and John Hunt for entertaining people on the pier in the afternoon, wonderful job; Michael Ahmuty for assisting with the crew vs. community competition, and Alaska Mountain Guides for donating the use of the big boots for the event. The crew and spectators had a blast.
I would also like to pass on a big thank-you to all those involved in welcoming in the summer season and our visitors who share the wealth; Ed Bryant for working tirelessly to ready Haines’ new pedestrian wayfaring signs and numerous other projects; Brian Lemcke for all he does; LaVerne Bryant for helping keep our green spaces green and clean, and the crew at the Visitor Center for taking care of our visitors.
