A 33-year-old Haines man was charged this week with shooting big game from a boat and for failing to validate his harvest ticket immediately after harvesting the bear.
State troopers contacted the man on May 20 and said an investigation showed he shot a brown bear near Lutak Inlet from his skiff, which was approximately 100 yards from where the bear was standing.
When contacted by troopers at the Lutak boat launch, the man also failed to validate his brown bear harvest ticket.
A mandatory court appearance has been scheduled for Friday, June 1, in Haines.
