Three of four Glacier Bear swimmers made final heats at the Region V championship meet last weekend, but came up short of qualifying for the state championship.
Senior Jackie St. Clair finished fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.84), the highest-ranking finish by a Haines swimmer.
Winners in each event advance to state, as do a number of swimmers who post the fastest times statewide.
Other Haines finishes in the final heats include:
Senior Cassie Galasso, 100-yard freestyle (6th; 1:01.32); St. Clair, 100-yard freestyle (7th; 1:02.75); sophomore Kai Sato-Franks (8th, 100-yard butterfly, 1:07.10).
