The Haines Borough School District is offering its Fast ForWord computer program to adults 6 p.m. daily, Mondays through Thursdays at the high school library.

District reading teachers have given high grades to the program it says has helped students bump up grade levels in reading ability. The program also is offered to high school students and can make good students even smarter, said Kara Murphy, a school aide who heads up the program.

A Time magazine article described Fast Forword as “mental aerobics,” designed to strengthen weak brain connections.

To be effective, sessions require sharply focused attention and daily participation, Murphy said. A fee may be charged. For more information, leave a message for Murphy at 766-6700.
