The Haines Animal Rescue Kennel will host a euthanasia training clinic Monday at the Chilkat Center.
“It is one of the toughest jobs anyone can do, but is also a necessary service,” said Steve Vick, HARK executive director, who will attend the training.
The National Animal Control Association will lead the statewide event for certification in chemical euthanasia of domestic animals.
HARK euthanizes animals that are terminally ill or suffering from a severe accident, Vick said.Registration forms are available at the HARK website, http://www.harkalaska.org.
Dr. Keith Branson, a clinical assistant professor of anesthesiology, will lead the 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. course in Haines. The cost is $400 per person.
The training is free to residents interested in working with HARK to provide the service.
