The second season of the Discovery Channel reality television show “Gold Rush” will launch Friday, Oct. 28, with men again looking to strike it rich at the Porcupine mining district.
According to The Futon Critic website that covers the TV industry, new episodes of “Gold Rush” averaged 3.73 million viewers a week, making it the top ad-supported cable program on Friday nights for adults in the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics.
The February season finale revealed Todd Hoffman and his mining crew spent $275,000 on their venture, but dug up less than $20,000 in gold at Porcupine.
The finale indicated the crew would be heading to Dawson City, Y.T., to pursue riches, but a Sept. 28 Discovery news release says Porcupine will again be featured prominently.
“Inspired by his father Jack, Todd Hoffman leads the miners – now with one season under their belts – to finish what they started and get to the bottom of the glory hole at Porcupine Creek and find gold,” the release said.
The Oct. 28 debut will include two episodes, “The Off-Season” and “Twist of Fate.”
