Pedestrian signs, the second tier of a Haines Borough wayfinding project, are available for viewing at the Haines Borough Public Library through Friday, Sept. 23.

“In keeping with Haines’ new marketing theme, ‘The Adventure Capital of Alaska,’ the signs feature local people enjoying recreational opportunities within 100 miles of Haines,” said Debra Schnabel, a former borough staffer who is a contractor for the signage project.

The pedestrian signs are coordinated with wayfinding maps recently installed at the Port Chilkoot Dock, Small Boat Harbor, Southeast Alaska State Fairgrounds and visitor center.

The new signs will be installed along pedestrian routes next spring, Schnabel said, giving public facilities workers the winter to assemble the signs and posts.
