Voting for Haines Chamber of Commerce annual awards – including business of the year – is open through Sept. 15.
Voting is open to chamber members and is offered only online at http://www.haineschamber.net.
Chamber office manager Joan Carlson said she’s hoping to improve numbers from last year, when only about 20 members cast ballots. “We need to get people on the website and start submitting names of who they want awarded.”
Only businesses that are chamber members are eligible for the Haines business of the year award. Any business is eligible for the other three awards, which include community service, customer service and Rising Star.
This year’s award parameters are different from last year, when members cast ballots only for a slate of nominated businesses, Carlson said.
Members completing nominations are eligible to enter a drawing for prizes including two tickets to the annual chamber banquet Sept. 24., state fair T-shirts and an eagle festival print.
As the person who tabulates votes, Carlson is the only person who will see names attached to ballots, she said.
The chamber banquet will include the group’s annual report and a dessert auction to benefit the Well & Fit Community Council. Susan Bell, commissioner of the state Department of Commerce and former Haines tourism director, is the keynote speaker.
Reservations are required for the dinner and must be made by Sept. 16. For more information, contact Carlson at 766-2202.
