The Haines Arts Council will present Juneau singer-songwriter Buddy Tabor in concert at the Chilkat Center 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. Tickets are $10.
Tabor is making a return to Haines one year after a successful show last September, said Haines Arts Council president Tom Heywood.
“He has performed here numerous times over his career and is always appreciated,” Heywood said. “His gritty voice and poetic commentaries of life and Alaska always make for entertaining, thought-provoking and intimate experiences for the audience.”
The Juneau Empire last week described Tabor as “well-known and well-loved in Juneau and beyond for his songwriting and performing. His musical influences and inspiration include Bob Dylan, John Prine and Townes Van Zandt; he once opened for the latter, and for Nancy Griffith.”
Tabor is kicking off the 2011-2012 season for the Haines Arts Council. Former U.S. fingerstyle guitar champion Chris Proctor will follow on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
