Haines School counselor Lindsey Moore is encouraging residents to sign up for a college and career program directory that will be a resource for students.
“I’m basically just trying to create a directory so that when students come in and are interested in a particular career program or a college or something, I can go through a list of folks in town and go, ‘Oh, this person went to this school you’re interested in; here’s their contact information if you want to talk to someone who not only understands life in Haines but also has been through the school and can share their experiences,’” Moore said.
Participants can sign up for the directory at http://www.hbsd.net.
“I’m looking for colleges and career programs, so folks who have gone to a vocational and technical school, I want their information as well,” Moore said. “It’s not just for a four-year college or a community college, so it’s anyone who has done any sort of post-secondary training program that they’d be interested in talking about.”
Haines High School also is continuing to collect alumni surveys online for feedback on how school prepared students for life after graduation. Contact Moore at 766-6700.
