Judy Erekson said: “For me, Karen Hess and her committee are showing their true colors by constantly litigating any time she doesn’t get her way, and verbally attacking anyone who doesn’t agree with her.” It’s not about “litigating to get her way.” It’s about demanding that the Haines assembly simply abide by state law, that’s all. Goodman broke the law by running as a non-resident, and those who seated him got spanked by the law. Why have laws when they can simply be broken by those who don’t like the way something plays out? A clause from the borough code: “State law and borough code require the seat to be filled by assembly appointment within 30 days, until the next election…,” which didn’t happen. So, what? That’s really not in there? Or, it’s just okay to ignore this, and then imply that Karen Hess who is challenging the abuse of this law is childish for “not getting her own way”? Oh, so you don’t want “division” in Haines? Division has always existed in Haines. The abuse of state law and borough code is what is fueling the division in this case, and Karen is simply holding the assembly’s feet to the fire of the law. The law is supposed to be an immovable anvil of strength, and not a fluff of goose down that gets blown about by the whims of elected officials with a personal agenda. Support the recall.
