We would like to thank the residents of Haines for reporting and bringing in injured birds to the American Bald Eagle Foundation. With your help, we saved many lives last year. Our job is to stabilize the birds and then fly them to Juneau Raptor Center because of the lack of proper resources here at the foundation. We are not a rehabilitation center. While we are interested in providing basic care, including transit to Juneau, for injured birds (specifically birds of prey) the amount of baby song birds that have been brought to the foundation is concerning. We advise those who find these types of birds to let nature take its course. The traumatic process of being in captivity and shipped to Juneau is potentially detrimental for baby birds because of the frequency in which they must feed. Again, we are not a rehab center and cannot provide such care for injured or orphaned song birds. Thank you for your cooperation.
