The History Day state finalists and their parents wish to thank all of the folks who came to have their cars washed and detailed this past weekend. The goal is to raise at least $1,300 for each kid which covers the cost of their round-trip airfare and registration fee. The car wash was a lot of hard work but we raised $982! Thank you, Haines! Many folks contributed their time or made donations to help it happen. Thanks to Fred Gray and Mike Denker at Delta Western for letting us use their water and electricity; Tomi Scovill and the Parts Place for the donation of car soap and Armor All; Dave Stickler, who came to have his truck washed, and came back with his awesome power washer for us to use, and many additional kids who showed up to help wash and detail: Kyle Klinger, Tristan Johnson, Dayton Long, Madeline Andriesen, Madison Chapin, and Lindy Hill. Look for more events in the near future (another car wash, salmon dinner, dessert auction, 50/50 raffle, etc.) to help send the kids to Washington, D.C. Raffle tickets for the iPad II are still available. The drawing is May 24; see any finalist or ask at the bank or Babbling Book for tickets – $10 for one or 6 for $50. Donations can also be made at the bank. Make check payable to National History Day Washington Trip.
