The Haines High School Glacier Bears girls’ basketball team would like to thank the American Legion for helping us run a raffle to help fund our trip to Valdez, where we played in the 34th Elks Tournament. The tournament was a great experience for our team, and we played in the championship game after beating some of the top teams in the state.  We raised $2,100 through the raffle, and along with donations from Southeast Roadbuilders, River Adventures, and Howsers, we were able to pay for our travel and lodging.

Another big thanks goes out to the Glacier Bears’ Booster Club which once again helped our equipment needs with a kind donation. It was also really nice to see so many Haines residents attend our home games this season, which helped create an exciting atmosphere in the Karl Ward Gymnasium. Parents of our student athletes showed a lot of dedication as they continually shuttled our players to and from practice the entire season.  We will miss our seniors and look forward to another successful season next year.
