I was saddened to read in last week’s edition of the Chilkat Valley News the story of the squirrel killings.
When we were children we were taught not to use innocent animals for target practice. Hunting for food for your family or if you needed to survive in the wilderness is one thing, but shooting little animals for sport is a different story.
I can’t imagine anyone admiring a hat adorned by dead squirrels. I would much prefer to watch animals happy and free.
Guns of any kind can be a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands. Pets are brought into a veterinarian’s office often with painful wounds from gun-happy kids.
I really don’t think this kind of activity should be encouraged.
