So, the Lighting of the Fort took place Saturday despite the elements. It was the worst weather we have ever had for the lighting, but many hardy Alaskans turned out anyway. Many thanks to those who helped create the holiday cheer despite the soggy conditions. Jim Shook brought forth the great cannon blast which signaled the lights to be lit. Thanks to Holly Davis and all the cast of the Nativity tableau and to the Women’s A Cappella Choir for the music; Greg Podsiki and the wonderful Venturer Scouts who made the bonfire and lit the luminarias; Judy Heinmiller, Ann Hansen and Linda Moser for helping with the food; Sam Wright for saving the day several times, and to all the residents of the fort who have their houses lit. Now everyone come on over and enjoy an evening of sledding or a cruise around the Parade Grounds. Happy Holidays!
