The reward for information leading to arrests in the case of two brown bears shot and later found near 19 Mile is up to $1,250, according to Ned Rozbicki, who organized the reward.

Rozbicki said the two shootings may not be connected.

“It’s important for people to know we’ve created a mechanism so someone could provide information leading to prosecutions and still remain anonymous and collect the reward.”

Anyone with useful information about the shootings should reach wildlife trooper Rick Merritt at 766-2533 or Rozbicki at 766-2427.

One of the bears, a sow believed shot on Saturday, Nov. 6, had two cubs born this year.
