The Haines Slackmasters finished seventh of 50 mixed teams and 19th of 122 teams overall at the annual Klondike Road Relay held last weekend between Skagway and Whitehorse, Y.T.
Jessica Kayser’s time of 1:33:47 for 12 miles in the final leg ranked her third among all women on that stretch.
The 10 local runners finished the 110-mile course in 15:46, a bit slower than team times in 2009 (14:35) and 2008 (14:45). Conditions were overcast, including rain on the first three legs.
Runners, in order of race sequence, included: 1) Kevin Forster, 2) Aaron Hietala, 3) Greg Schlachter, 4) Marnie Hartman, 5) Eric Forster, 6) Travis Kukull, 7) Andy Hedden, 8) Andrew Cardella, 9) Jennifer Walsh and 10) Jessica Kayser.
