Sen. Ted Stevens provided immeasurable support to the Indians, Eskimos and Aleuts in Alaska and all other residents. If one were to select which of the programs and money he fought for, it would be very difficult to select one that had the greatest impact. Health and education services were always priorities. Examples were: The Indian Self Determination and Title IX Education, the female sports bill. The sports bill was necessary to guarantee schools supported girls sports all across the U.S. I will always wear our Alaska Native Sisterhood Colors to honor Senator Stevens in memory of all he has done that benefited Alaska.
If it were possible, I would be in Anchorage for his services.
