The Chilkat Valley Community Foundation is offering its second cycle of grants.

Through donors including the Haines Borough, Community Asset Building Initiative and Rasmuson Foundation, the foundation has $11,000 to grant local nonprofits and other eligible entities.

The Call Family Fund, a part of the CVCF fund, has $713 available for grant projects.

Between July 22 and Sept. 30 the grantmaking committee will be accepting applications from organizations that serve residents of the Chilkat Valley. Funding for projects during the grant cycle will range from $500 to $3,500.

There are four categories of cash grants: 1) operating support grants (not to exceed 10 percent of a group’s annual budget; 2) new program and special project grants (recipients must raise $2 for every $1 given); 3) capital grants (may be awarded as the local match to another grant source), and 4) interim grants (discretionary grants awarded through the year to meet special opportunities or meet one-time needs).

Grant packets can be downloaded from the group website, http://www.chilkatvalleycf.org. Awards will be announced on Dec. 1. Funds will be available on or after Dec. 31.
