Carol Ann Morris, a 10-year resident of Haines, died of cirrhosis of the liver June 21 at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. She was 59.

Morris was born in San Marcos, Texas on Jan. 18, 1951 to Lloyd F. and Norma Jean Martin. She was raised in Irving, Texas.

She moved to Alaska in the summer of 1982. She made her home in Juneau and worked as a bank teller for the Gastineau Channel branch of First National Bank of Anchorage until 1998. She came to Haines shortly thereafter.

“She enjoyed it so much, she decided to stay there,” said son Kevin Morris;

Morris developed a fear of leaving the home and spent most of her time at her Deishu Drive senior housing unit. Her son said she studied traditional religious value and Christianity and her hobbies included jewelry, artwork and watching movies.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Norma Jean Martin and by nephew Michael Hastings.

She is survived by sons Kenny Kinnamon, Texas; Jay D. Morris, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Kevin S. Morris, Grants Pass, Ore.; sister Mary and Gerold Hastings of Bedford, Texas; niece Shelly Morrison of Texas, and by numerous relatives in Texas and Kansas.

No service will be held. Her ashes will be spread by her sons.
