Trumpeter Swans

A pair of trumpeter swans float in the Chilkoot River at low tide on Sunday, March 28. The migratory birds arrive every spring and can live for more than 20 years. The swans often mate for life. Area resident Richard Buck said the swans usually stay for about two weeks before moving on. "They are harbingers of spring," Buck said.
