Adult swimmers are encouraged to register for a lifeguard certification class to be held in Haines in mid-January.

Four slots are open in the class, which is limited to six trainees. The pool will soon be down to two lifeguards, said pool manager Amanda Painter. 

With more lifeguards, the facility can offer more swims and be open more days of the week, Painter said. To register or learn more about the class, call Painter at 766-2666 or leave a message there.

Painter said the borough recently added a late afternoon Sunday swim and a Tuesday sports night event to the pool schedule.

She reminds families and groups that private pool reservations can be made to accommodate coronavirus sensitivity. To reserve private swim times, phone Painter at 907-612-0786.

The pool is offering a punch card discount – a free, 10-punch pass with purchase of a 20-punch pass – through January.
