Neighbors help save house from water
December 10, 2020
When Young Road collapsed last week, an alarming surge of water hit my house. While vainly trying to shovel the flow away from the house, my neighbor Ryan Cook arrived with sandbags and showed me how useful they were. If he had not showed up I would have really been under water. Luckily, I was able to get and fill more bags and with further assistance from Pizza Joe we diverted some of the flow away from the house. Neighbor Gabe Thomas also came and offered help and when Sean Byrant called to check on me, I knew things were going to be okay. With his loader he worked late into the night reopening a failed culvert on Young Road and getting the water flowing in the right direction again. We are a lucky bunch of people to have each other’s backs when times get tough. I am very grateful.
