January 11, 2018

Tuesday, January 2

A caller reported slick roads at 7 Mile Haines Highway. The information was relayed to the state Department of Transportation.

A caller reported a vehicle in the ditch at 4.5 Mile Haines Highway. There were no injuries and the damages are unknown.

A caller reported an unlicensed driver on Main Street.

A caller reported a problem with an appliance at their Second Avenue residence. The caller was referred to contact building maintenance. Alcohol was involved.

A welfare check was conducted on Fourth Avenue on a person making suicidal statements.

Wednesday, January 3

Police assisted a motorist with a disabled vehicle on Third Avenue.

A caller reported a person needing assistance on Second Avenue. Officers were unable to locate the person.

Haines Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a chimney fire on Tower Road.

An investigation began into a report of a violation of a protective order.

A caller reported loud music on Fourth Avenue. An officer contacted the source of the music.

Thursday, January 4

A caller reported a vehicle struck a building on Second Avenue. All parties exchanged insurance information.

A caller reported a disabled vehicle on Main Street. The vehicle was towed.

Friday, January 5

A 40-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence, with a blood alcohol level of .271, and was transported to the Haines jail.

Saturday, January 6

An officer issued an open alcohol container citation near Jones Point.

Sunday, January 7

A welfare check was conducted on a person on Second Avenue. Alcohol was involved.

The police and fire departments responded to a vehicle rollover accident at 5 Mile Haines Highway. The patient was transported by the fire department.

An iPhone found on Third Avenue was turned in to police.

Monday, January 8

A caller reported slick roads on Old Hart Road. The message was relayed to public works.

A Main Street business owner requested extra patrols.

Officers investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle on Cathedral View Drive.

An officer made contact with a suspicious person on Second Avenue.

There were six traffic stops, one 911 hang-up, 13 medical calls and three canine calls.
