Something's fishy

Michael T. Ward this week checks on an upright salmon carving he installed at the corner of Mud Bay Road and Old Haines Highway. The eight-foot piece was carved by Ward's great uncle Phil Zastrow in the 1980s and stored for decades in the attic of the Ward family's Haines Quick Shop building. Ward said he would install another carving, of an eagle, on the edge of the building's roof.
